Every time a new social media platform blows up, a new crop of influencers emerges. It happened with Instagram and YouTube, where some of your favorite creators have become celebrities in their own right, so it’s no surprise that TikTok is now home to its own group of influencers who are set to take over the world.
Charli D'Amelio is one of the biggest stars dominating TikTok rn. She's even been called the "reigning queen of TikTok." With over 52 million followers, you can't even open the app without seeing her face. Here's everything you need to know about this rising TikTok star.
She's going to star in a movie
Charli's star is on the rise! The dancer is set to star in the upcoming animated movie, StarDog and TurboCat. Charli will play a little mouse named Tinker who helps a cat named Felix and a dog named Buddy on their adventure to find Buddy's lost owner.
The movie will be available on DIRECTV Cinema starting May 21st and will arrive in theaters on June 19th, but you can check out the trailer now.
She's the most followed person on TikTok
Charli was just crowed as the most followed person on TikTok. She currently has 52.2 followers on the platform. According to Business Insider, a singer named Loren Gray previously held that title at 41.4 million followers.
She’s been a competitive dancer for about 10 years
She's got a bunch of pics and videos from her competitions on her Insta.
She started her TikTok account in July 2019
It’s hard to believe that the 15 year old has only been on TikTok since the summer of 2019. In an interview with NBC, Charli says that her TikTok really got popular after she posted a duet with fellow user Move With Joy. That video has been viewed over 2 million times already.
She danced on stage for the JoBros and Bebe Rexha
Back in November 2019, Charli said Bebe slide in her DMs to ask if she would dance with her on stage during her performance at the Barclays Center in NYC. She was opening for the Jonas Brothers. Fans posted tons of clips of Charli on stage and Bebe danced with Charli and Dixie on her TikTok.
She has an older sister who is basically her twin
Charli's sister Dixie is 18, but they look so much alike they could be twins. Dixie has her own massive following on TikTok with close to 13 million followers. She also posts dancing and lip syncing videos.
Her parents are really supportive of their daughters' careers
Marc and Heidi, Charli and Dixie's parents, have appeared in a bunch of their daughter's TikToks. Marc is called the "Dad of TikTok" (but his Twitter and TikTok bios say he's the CEO of the D'Amelio Family) and has an account of his own with over 2.5 million followers. He posts a bunch of videos featuring his wife Heidi as well as ones of him lip syncing.
Of course mom has a TikTok too! Heidi's is more focused on health and lifestyle content. There are a bunch of videos of her working out as well as of her family. She has 1.7 million followers.
Her whole family is signed to a talent agency
TikTok made the whole D'Amelio family Internet famous. They signed with United Talent Agency to work on projects like digital content, live touring, podcasts, books, TV and licensing and endorsem*nts, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Getting big on TikTok makes school difficult for Charli
Charli told MEL Magazine that kids at school record videos of her walking to class and share them in private groups. “It’s the internet,” she tells the magazine. “Everything gets around, you know. Like, no way I wasn’t going to see that.”
Charli starred in a 2020 Super Bowl ad and got to dance with her idol Jennifer Lopez before the big game
Charli shared the screen with a bunch of other celebs in a Super Bowl ad for Sabra Hummus where she dances in an all red (orange?) scene.
Charli along with Jennifer and her dancers all did the JLo Super Bowl challenge and posted it on TikTok. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Charli said she was super nervous but dancing with JLo was a huge goal. She said, "It was really a dream come true."

"Renegade" TikToks were a huge trend toward the end of 2019 and Charli's is one of the most popular. People have made a ton of TikToks dancing to the song featuring Charli's dance moves.
She’s now on YouTube too
In August 2019, Charli tweeted that she would celebrate 100k followers on TikTok by making a YouTube channel. She didn't upload anything until November, way after her TikTok had gotten over two million followers. But now she's uploaded three vids and she's got over 1.5 million subscribers.
Her first YouTube video is about her first meet and greet
Back in November 2019, Charli hosted her first meet and greet in her home state of Connecticut. For $100, fans could meet her, take selfies, learn a new TikTok dance and more. Although, people weren't happy with the price tag, Charli followed up on TikTok saying that the money from the sales would pay for the security. The rest would be donated to Carnival for a Cause.
Charli danced with the creator of the "Renegade" dance Jalaiah Harmon
Fourteen-year-old Jalaiah Harmon is the creator of the biggest dance on the internet right now, but for the longest time no one knew. Her dance blew up on TikTok (and TikTok stars like Charli made videos of themselves doing it), but she didn’t receive credit for it. Now, more people are aware of who Jalaiah is and Charlie posted a TikTok of them dancing to "Renegade" along with Addison Easterling using Jalaiah's original dance moves. She captioned it, "guys i would like to introduce you to @_.xoxlaii i am so happy that she was able to teach me the original choreography that she made she is the best!"
She’s a member of Hype House
The Hype House is an LA mansion all about collaborative TikTok creation. It was founded by TikTok star Chase Hudson who goes by Lil Huddy and YouTuber Thomas Petrou, and its main goal is to create tons of great content so that every member can get more followers.
The house currently has 20 members, but only four people live there full-time. Although it's a house full of teens and young adults, there are still some rules they all have to follow like no parties and everyone has to make videos every day according to The New York Times.
She’s inspired a new TikTok Trend
Charli has gotten so big, she's inspiring new trends. One of them is a group of teenage guys looking into the camera while they react to one of her TikToks.
Charli is dating Lil Huddy
But they aren't quick to put any labels on it. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Lil Huddy said, "it's exclusive, we're not talking to anyone else, we really like each other. We just don't want to put a label on it yet."
Label or not, Charli posted these adorable shots of them on Valentine's Day.
She’s still surprised by her fame
She doesn't even know how she got so big. “I wish I could give everyone an explanation as to what happened, but I have no idea,” she told MEL. “I’m just doing what I do every day and posting it, I guess. It’s very insane to me, as it is for everyone else watching.”
Internet fame is cool, but her ultimate goal is to be a dancer
She's been dancing all her life and it's gotten her a lot of hype, so it totally makes sense that Charli wants a career doing what she loves. She told MEL Magazine that she wants to dance professionally and will use her TikTok fame to get her there.
